AsiaFI Monthly Updates on 2009.9.1 
 
1  The 2nd AsiaFI School on Architecture and Building Blocks was successfully held in Jeju,

   There are 51 participants from 6 countries (this is the first time we have student from Southeast Asia and Asian 
   student studying in the USA to attend AsiaFI school). There are 19 student presentations (China:8, Korea:6 
   Japan: 3, Thailand:1, USA:1). The feedback from students are positive, especially for the paper reading/writing session.
   Several AsiaFI meetings, including board/steering group/WG meeting was co-located with this school. 
   
2  The 2nd AsiaFI Workshop on Future Internet Testbed was held in Jeju on 2009.8.24, 
   co-located with AsiaFI 2009 summer school and FIF camp.

3  The Asia Network Network Workshop was held in Jeju on 2009.8.25, co-located with AsiaFI 2009 summer school.
   This is the first time to combine the China-Korea and Japan-Korea Network Technology workshops together.

4  AsiaFI Board Chairs, Steering Group Chair, Secretariat Director and Co-Directors were elected during AsiaFI board 
   meeting and steering group meeting held in Jeju on August 24, 2009.

5  Committee/Working Groups.
   The AsiaFI Testbed Committee was approved by the board meeting. The testbed committee held a meeting in Jeju on Aug.25.
   Kilnam Chon was elected as the acting chair of Testbed Committee (2009-2010).
 
   The AsiaFI Architecture and Building Blocks Working Group held a WG meeting on Aug.26 in Jeju. Mingwei Xu was elected 
   as the chair of Architecture WG.
 
   The AsiaFI Education Committee becomes Education BoF. The Education BoF will work together with AsiaFI Student Advisory 
   Group for education related activities. Rodney van Meter was elected as the coordinator of AsiaFI Student Advisory Group.
 
 
6  New MoUs signed with AsiaFI.
   There are 9 MoUs sighed in August between AsiaFI and KAIST, Korea Univ., POSTECH, CNU, KHU, Konkuk Univ., 
   Cheju National Univ., KISTI, and KT, in addition to the existing 7 MoUs.
 
7  Workshop on Mobile Internet Through Cellular Networks (MICNET2009£©will be held in Beijing on 2009.9.19

8  The Future Internet Workshop will be held on 2009.11.17, co-located with ACM AINTEC, Bangkok.

9  The 3rd AsiaFI Winter School will be held in Seoul, Feb.24-26, 2010. A Joint Meeting on 2010 AsiaFI Winter School and 
    FIF Winter Camp was held on Aug. 27 in Jeju to prepare this winter school. The school information will be online soon.  
 
10 AsiaFI is going to hold a workshop on Future Internet Identifiers co-located with AsiaFI winter school on  
   Feb. 24, 2010. A Brainstorm session to prepare this workshop was held on Aug. 26, during AsiaFI 2009 
   summer school in Jeju.
